My deep and private musings on anime.

So I have been Internet Surfing mostly and doing an occasional bit of university stuff but that’s boring so let’s talk about my Internet Surfing.

I was looking for specific material though: New anime series.

Nothing too long, something with a good story and good animation and intriguing premise.

And I have found the answer:

Suisei No Gargantia

It’s not had a western release so far which is always a good sign if you ask me.
It’s got a good story line.
It’s sci-fi but it’s unlike the average laser-gun orgy so it’s good. Plus it’s like only 15 episodes so it’s non-addictive.

I shall not reveal story tidbits here though cause I haven’t officially started to watch it myself. I’m downloading the episodes in 720p and THEN watching it in one huge marathon on my  TV screen.

1. Popular Animes like Naruto, Bleach and One Piece lose their edge with their popularity. They start thinking about ratings-boosters and popularity gimmicks that just destroy the standards they have. Which is why I like short anime with good production. Example: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Darker Than Black, DEATHNOTE,  and such. Small number of episodes but they didn’t have stereotypes for characters who believed they would always win if they JUST BELIEVED IN THEMSELVES AND THEIR FRIENDS despite their opponents always having some mind-devastatingly powerful skills and techniques. Like I admire optimism but on that scale, it’s just plain bullshit.

Give me a well-produced short anime that addresses issues deeper than self-belief and self-confidence like say, Humanity’s constant fascination with immortality, sacrifice, and basically morality over vengeance and stuff.

So I know Naruto chooses to forgive his enemies rather than kill them but the way he defeats them with AWESOME SLOGANS is just revolting at this point.

And what’s with the animation recently? The fights which used to look so cool now look as if they’ve been done by grade school students on laptops. Remember Gaara vs. Rock Lee? Naruto vs. Sasuke at the waterfall? Hell, remember Shikamaru vs. Temari and all the good fights where all the moves seemed legit and did not look like a bored Graphic Designer got bored?

At this point I’m watching Naruto because I used to love it. And I need closure.

I realize that I posted something earlier about it on the positive things about it but now, I kind of don’t love it that much.

Although I guess that does make me a hypocrite. Don’t point fingers though. Takes one to know one.

Just my opinion.

– End of Lesson-

P.S: Sorry for that super-long lesson and I realize that most of what I said could have been before the lesson but I came to realize all my ranting stuff today and seemed like a pretty important lesson to me.

Accomplishment. Bring on the Hate.
