DO YOU TUMBLE? OR IS IT ‘DO YOU TUMBLR?’ ISN’T THAT A NOUN THOUGH? WHAT.

There. It’s done.

I JUST DELETED MY TUMBLR

And that’s not the first time I’ve done that.

To all those confused by my earlier statements, let me clarify.

I’ve always had a love-hate-love-hate relationship with Tumblr. I mean it has amazing content obviously (deviously slitted in between all the porn that is) and actually has a good, intelligent community of users that knows what it’s like to share with others the majesty that is the internet. But therein lies one of my problems with it. More than half the people on Tumblr are only reblogging content really. I mean almost no one really utilises Tumblr to post original content and even the ones that do spend more time reblogging than sharing their own work.

With all the three times I’ve signed up in the past, I’ve tried to only follow users that post original content and not just simply reblogs but it’s hard and frustrating to sift through all those over-circulated memes, inspirational quotes, movie screencaps or just plain good ol’ landscape photos to find some teeny tiny original content somewhere. Add to that my very particular tastes when it comes to original content, Tumblr is a nightmare for me to navigate through.

But that’s actually not the reason I’ve invariable deleted all my Tumblrs after only a few weeks. I try and try to post original content in there but it’s so hard. I mean once you start exploring and browsing in there, you have to physically stop your dominant hand from hitting that reblog button. Seriously. I mean that little circular arrow sign is so unholy, it should literally be put on a premium plan. But I bet people would actually GO PREMIUM to reblog.

It’s rather disappointing really because Tumblr is chock full of opportunities for photo bloggers, writers, artists, online comedians, vloggers and other such Original-Content-Makers but it’s saturated with all these reblogs. It’s kind of a stagnat creative community. Which is why I MUCH prefer WordPress to Tumblr.

Sure it’s fun to look at stuff on Tumblr but it’s just so repetitive sometimes and trying to post original content and MAKE IT is just impossibly impossible. I think I’ll just sign up so that I can just follow and read and browse rather than post. Yeah.

SORRY TUMBLR. I APPRECIATE YOUR COMMITMENT TO THE INTERNET BUT NO THANKS TUMBLR.

PS: ALSO FROM NOW ON, MY POSTS ARE GONNA BE CENTRE-ALIGNED I THINK SO YEAH.
